About WR8DAR

Formed in the 1990s, the RADAR Group was the brainchild of several radio amateurs engaged in public safety in the State of Michigan. With access to several sites that provide great coverage for amateur radio repeater use, their original idea gave Metro Detroit and Southwest Ontario exceptional repeater coverage, continuing a tradition of offering friends a chance to talk to each other, and providing a backbone of communications for civil and emergency services for over 30 years.

RADAR isn’t as much a “social club,” as it is more an alliance and group of friends who own, maintain and repair their repeaters together, and have agreed to pool our resources to give the whole the best we have to offer each other.  Some members have great connections on locations for repeaters with excellent coverage — others make great coax, others have access to equipment!
